The benefits, financed by CAPES, are: scholarships and flight tickets for Brazilian students in accordance with prevailing at CAPES; international air tickets and financial support on daily expenses, for Brazilian teachers on assignment in France; financial support for current activities of the Brazilian team.
The joint project between UTFPR, PUCPR and the Universities of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) and Troyes (UTT), entitled "Creating a Franco-Brazilian Ecosystem for Engineering Training" covers the courses:
- Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Textile Engineering.
Language without borders
Developed by the Ministry of Education (MEC) through the Higher Education Department (Secretaria de Educação Superior SESu) together with the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (CAPES), the Languages Without Borders Program (Idiomas sem Fronteiras - IsF) aims at encouraging professors, scholars, staff and students to learn foreign languages as well as providing a comprehensive and structural change in the teaching of foreign languages in Brazilian universities.
The Program
LwB has been prepared with the objective of providing opportunities for professors, scholars, staff and students to learn and/or improve foreign languages in order for them to be eligible for exchange programs (for undergraduate and graduate studies) through the Science without Borders program and other mobility programs with foreign universities in countries where higher education is conducted in whole or in part through foreign languages. This program also helps the Brazilian university communities to better receive an increasing number of foreign professors and students on their campuses. To meet such demands, LwB include the provision of distance learning and classroom courses, besides the application of proficiency exams.
LwB at UTFPR in Numbers
- Total number of TOEFL ITP exams applied: up to the first semester of 2015, 17.355.
- 12 Campus offer the TOEFL ITP applications.
- Campuses Cornélio Procópio, Curitiba and Pato Branco have a regional nucleus (NucLi) where English courses and other activities are offered.
- UTFPR number of users of ‘My English Online” Program (MEO): 8.740.
Marca
The Regional Academic Mobility Program in Accredited Courses (MARCA) is the first undergraduate student mobility program promoted by Governments through the Educational Sector of MERCOSUR.
Countries and associate members of the bloc participate in the program, in order to promote regional integration. The mobility happens between MERCOSUR member states and is developed through regular academic periods. In Brazil, the program is funded by CAPES.
At UTFPR, the Agronomy course went through accreditation process in 2012, becoming a participant in the program.
Currently, the project "AGRI-SUR: network for strengthening student mobility, teaching and international management among Agronomy courses in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay" is taking place, with participation of UTFPR and the international partners National University of Rosario (Argentina), National University of Cuyo (Argentina), University of Concepción (Chile) and Universidad Austral de Chile.
PEC-G
The Program for Partner Undergraduate Students (PEC-G) offers superior training opportunities for citizens of developing countries with which Brazil has a educational and cultural agreements. Developed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, in partnership with private and public universities - state and federal - the PEC-G selects foreign students, between 18 and preferentially up to 23 years of age, with a high school degree, to make undergraduate studies in the country.
The selected foreign student attends undergraduation for free. On the other hand, this student must find a way to meet some standards, among them, prove that he/she is able to cover his/her expenses in Brazil, have a certificate of completion of high school (or equivalent) and proficiency in Portuguese language.
Preferably, the selected students are people engaged in social and economic development programs agreed between Brazil and their origin countries. The agreements determine that the students must return to their country and contribute to the development of the field in which he/she obtained his/her degree.
Currently, UTFPR has 17 student regularly registered under this program, original from countries such as Chile, Paraguay, Angola, Benin, Cape Verde, Congo-Brazzaville, Ghana and Sao Tome and Principe.
