Priscila Vaz de Arruda

priscilaarruda@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

1. Extraction of sugars and bioactive compounds from lignocellulosic materials by different procedures including hydrolysis processes based on the use of acids, alkalis or enzymes;

2. Bioprocesses for the production of value-added compounds including ethanol, xylitol, organic acids, bioactive compounds, enzymes, and others;

3. Fermentation technology: submerged and solid-state fermentation systems; Kombucha fermentation, food fermentation.

Rafael Admar Bini

rafaelbini@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Interested in the characterization and understanding of self-organized processes in a series of colloidal and polymeric systems. Colloid systems governed by electrostatic/steric and hydrophobic/hydrophilic interactions are used as templates in the Synthesis of Polymeric Particles, as well as the encapsulation of inorganic particles and macromolecules, aiming their applications in the area of sustained release of drugs.

Renato Eising

renatoeising@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Research interests: development and application of nanoparticles (metalic and non-metalic) and microparticles in catalysis, controlled release of active principles and biosensors. Synthesis and modification of polymers and surfactant molecules.

Ricardo Schneider

rschneider@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Throughout the last decade, considerable interest has been shown in nanostructured metallic surfaces due to the properties related to the formation of surface plasmons (SP). The Group of Polymers and Nanostructures of Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Toledo has been focused on the synthesis of active glasses for nanostructure growth.

Thiago Cintra Maniglia

thiagomaniglia@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

My research line is in molecular biology applied to the identification of microorganisms with biotechnological interest. By isolation, culture and DNA analysis through gene sequencing it is possible to identify species of fungi and bacteria. The species that present biotechnological potential are analyzed for the identification of substances with a biotechnological application, mainly in agriculture.

Douglas José Coutinho

douglascoutinho@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Our group is dedicated to the study of electrical and optical properties of conductive, semiconductive and organic insulators thin films. Those thin films are used in the construction of organic electronic devices such as: organic photovoltaics (OPVs), field-effect transistors (OFETs) and biosensors (OECTs). Currently we are focused on the development of organic field-effect transistors and organic electrochemical transistors for biosensors application.

Eduardo Vinicius Kuhn

kuhn@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Research interests include adaptive signal processing, adaptive filters and algorithms, stochastic modeling, speech processing, biomedical signal processing, and digital communications systems.

Ernesto Osvaldo Wrasse

eowrasse@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Experience in the field of Material Physics, specifically in the use of computer simulations to describe the structural and electronic properties of materials. Currently, has an interest in biomaterials, drug delivery by nanoparticles, organic polymers (for applications in packs and efficient solar cells), and topological insulators.

Felipe Walter Dafico Pfrimer

pfrimer@utfpr.edu.br

Acts mainly on the following topics: Bragg grating in fiber optics, sensors networks and acquisition of biological signals (EMG and ECG).

Gustavo Henrique Dalposso

gustavodalposso@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

Acts mainly in the field of spatial statistics of areas, geostatistics, precision agriculture, applied statistics, geoprocessing, and bootstrap resampling methods.

Jefferson Gustavo Martins

martins@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

My research interests are focused on pattern recognition and machine learning, and their application in the resolution of problems for which there is low availability of human expertise and which manual process is subjective, time-consuming, repetitive, and produces low recognition rates. Such problems have their data captured by different instruments and are represented through texts, audios, images and videos, among others.

Jones Erni Schmitz

jonesschmitz@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

The main research interests are: process modeling through artificial intelligence techniques; Application of advanced process control techniques in bioprocesses; Analysis and synthesis of chemical processes.

Wesley Klewerton Guez Assunção

wesleyk@utfpr.edu.br

Doctor

My research interests for the supervision of students are: Computational Intelligence for Optimization of Bioscience problems. Development of software to support the acquiring, storage, and analysis of data. Dealing, processing, and information extraction in bioscience data sets that are too large or complex.
